FAQs for KidsConnect Outdoor Classes

FAQs for KidsConnect Outdoor Classes

Hey Parents!

We are so excited to kick-off another great year here at Southwood Kids! If you would like for your child to participate, please meet us outside, behind the Sanctuary just after the Corporate Worship Service for our modified, 30-minute, outdoor KidsConnect classes. Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.  Let us know if you have further questions. We’ll see you Sunday!

Are restrooms available?
Yes; however, please plan to take your child to the restroom prior to drop off.  This will allow us to make the most of the time we have together.

Where should I drop my child off?
Meet us at the playground and follow the signage to your child’s Check Point.

What is the Check-In process?
At the designated Check Point, you will sign your child in and initial the daily COVID Health Assessment.  When you check your child out, you will need to come to the same location and sign them out on the roster.

What should my child bring?
Important- Please make sure your child has a water bottle or thermos for KidsConnect.  A camping chair, towel or blanket is fine, too. (Crazy Creek seats will be available.) And, a Bible is also great!

If you have not completed the Consent Form for Temperature Screening and Hand Sanitizer, you may do so HERE .

Will my child need a mask?
Please make sure they bring one with them - we have extras if you forget. When we are able to socially distance well (like while running/playing and while we are sitting during lesson times), your child will not be required to wear his or her mask (unless you instruct them to do so).  We will ask them to put their masks on if we gather closely in groups, stand in lines, etc.

What about temperature checks?
While we are outdoors, we will not be doing temperature checks due to increased potential of inaccurate readings. Please make sure to take your child’s temperature 30 minutes prior to arrival on campus. If it is above 100.4 degrees, we ask you to stay home and seek proper medical advice.  When we move indoors, we will begin temperature checks at that time.

What should I do while my child is in class?
This Sunday, please attend the church-wide Town Hall meeting.  On subsequent Sun days, you are welcome to bring a chair and sit outside with other parent, you may sit in your car, or you may relax inside at Gathering Spaces.  We simply ask that you remain on campus in case of an emergency.

Can I stay with my child?
Absolutely! In fact, we would LOVE to have your help - either playing/interacting with kids or helping with logistics. It doesn’t have to be every Sunday, but every little bit helps.  If this is something you’d like to do - please let us know - email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Can I volunteer with the Children’s Ministry?
YES! We have many wonderful positions ranging from relational to logistical and across many different areas from Nursery to Preschool and Kids Worship to KidsConnect, and even special events. We would be thrilled to discuss where you would be most comfortable serving and help you find your “sweet spot.”  We also welcome volunteers in various comfort levels (in-person, outdoor only, virtual only, etc.).
