meet our administrative assistants

All who work in the office at Southwood hesitate to use the word “assistant” or “secretary” to describe these wonderful ladies because they are so much more. Whether it is babysitting a staff member’s children, praying for the staff on an especially busy day or ministering to a hurting person who comes into the office, all of these ladies are constant examples of individuals going the extra mile. They view their entire life, as we all should, as a ministry. Praise that goes to any staff member at Southwood might first go to these ladies for making the lives and work of the staff successful. They are the glue that makes the office at Southwood both a fun environment to work in and a family. As you encounter these ladies be sure to give them encouragement and praise for their faithful ministry to both the staff and the church as a whole. They wouldn’t want such attention but that is one of the many reasons they truly deserve it.

What are your primary areas of responsibility? I handle admin tasks for Children’s Ministry and Missions.

How long have you worked at Southwood? This is my second stint in the Southwood office. This time I’ve been here 6 months.

What task takes up the most of your time any given week? Most of my time is filled with small tasks that help the children’s and missions department run more smoothly. This includes scheduling meetings, updating southwoodtower.org information, taking minutes at committee meetings, making nametags, etc. The busiest week, hands down, has been the week before Move Up Sunday but that was also the most fun week for me.

What responsibility do you enjoy the most? My favorite task is creating the children’s bulletin every week. I also enjoy everything southwoodtower.org related.
What keeps you going on a hard day? A long conversation with Hunter (which usually involves him sharing the gospel with me once again) keeps me going after a hard day.

2) Kim Delchamps
What are your primary areas of responsibility? Youth Department

How long have you worked at Southwood? 15 years

What task takes up the most of your time any given week? The never ending, random jobs that Ken Leggett creates. My weeks are never the same….variety!

What responsibility do you enjoy the most? I honestly enjoy the people I’m allowed to work with and love being behind the scenes and never having to be up front. I enjoy seeing the finished product of the team’s hard work come together as a success!

What keeps you going on a hard day? I think I can count on one hand my bad days. They are few and far between and for that I’m thankful. On those days, I’m able to go home, rest and start all over again.

What are your primary areas of responsibility? Admin support for Will Spink and Karen Parks and managing the database.

How long have you worked at Southwood? I’ve been at Southwood for 3 years and I switched from youth work over to being an admin in December 2009.

What task takes up the most of your time any given week? Facebook stalking (just kidding…)  Putting in attendance and sending out visitor letters.

What responsibility do you enjoy the most? I enjoy noticing and caring about who has been missing from the Southwood family.  I enjoy connecting people especially new Southwood members.  And I love reading the notes the students leave for me in the pew registers on Sundays.

What keeps you going on a hard day? Getting encouragement from Sharon Dutcher in the office, having coffee with James Parker and Phillip Barrett’s music selection in the office.

4) Sharon Dutcher
What are your primary areas of responsibility? Admin Support ultimately for Bill, Will, Karen and overseeing office administration.

How long have you worked at Southwood? 2 years and 3 months

What task takes up the most of your time any given week?
On a daily basis, fielding calls or questions that relate to the church or the running of the church office, and providing support to staff and church members in regards to daily operations. Seasonally, Small Groups management and support of Women’s Ministry and Pastoral Care and Assimilation.

What responsibility do you enjoy the most? Interaction with people and providing support to staff to free them to do other responsibilities.

What keeps you going on a hard day? Trying to keep the prospective that my work is not for man, but for the Lord and furthering His kingdom.“All you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord…” Colossians 3:17

What are your primary areas of responsibility? Support Senior Pastor & Executive Director

How long have you worked at Southwood? 1 year

What task takes up the most of your time any given week?
Keeping track of a very in-demand new Senior Pastor smile Cajoling the printer to produce the bulletins for the worship services.

What responsibility do you enjoy the most?
I truly enjoy ministering in the small things so that Jean can tend and minister this flock. When I interviewed here, Ken asked me if I could “lick a stamp to the glory of God.” There are indeed many responsibilities that come with supporting a senior pastor and executive director but it’s the small things of ministry to them that make my heart sing.

What keeps you going on a hard day? I know without a doubt that God has called me here.
