Haiti Relief Funding and Update
Since the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, Southwood has faithfully risen to serve through prayer and giving.
Our missionaries, Charles and Antonine Amicy were not injured in the quake and the PMH (Presbyterian Mission in Haiti) main campus in Messailler/Cabaret suffered only broken windows and minor damage. The Canadian Reformed Church’s building in P-a-P at which PMH’s 6th Presbyterian Church meets was destroyed. No one was injured. The home of Leon Amicy, Charles’ brother and PMH pastor, was destroyed by the earthquake. Thankfully no one was injured when it collapsed. PMH pastor in P-a-P, Octavius, was in his house when the quake hit. His son, Carlens, had his right hand crushed. He was flown in NC where he received surgery and is recovering.
Currently, Southwood is not sending relief teams because only sanctioned relief agencies like the Red Cross or Samaritan’s Purse are being allowed in the country at this time. This will change over time. Mission to the World (MTW) has just received back an assessment team and they will be working with PMH to continue directing and aiming relief efforts.
If you would like to continue supporting relief efforts financially, please consider the following and give directly to them.
