How-To: Praying For Our Kids
Looking for an easy yet meaningful way to pray for your child? Try the Handprint Prayer! (It’s CRAZY simple!) Here’s what you need to do:
1) Pick one Bible verse for each of your children and pray it for a year, ideally everyday.
2) Trace their little hand and write their name and the verse on it. (Try to think about what the year ahead will be like for them, any big milestones or new challenges they might be facing. If they are very young, you might consider a verse about learning who God is as they grow.)
3) Cut the handprint out and stick the finished card on your car dashboard, hang it from your rear-view mirror, tape it to your computer monitor, or use it as a book mark in your Bible - just be sure to put it in a highly visible place, so you’ll be reminded to pray for them daily.
Over time, you can collect the little handprints to give to your child one day so that they can see how God has been writing His name on their hearts since before they were born and how their Heavenly Father’s words perfectly encapsulated their parent’s hopes and dreams for them.
