Session Update

Please join us for our annual congregational meeting on Sunday, February 5, following the worship service. We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate together what God is doing and to look together to the future as well. The Session is delighted to recommend two elder candidates (Lance Cooper and Mike Stanfield) and two deacon candidates (Mike Newlin and Karl Pittard) to be voted on by the congregation at the meeting. We will also present the budget for 2017 at this meeting.

Please pray for us as your elders and deacons go on our annual retreat February 24-25. This is always a significant weekend for us in developing our relationships with each other as well as in praying together and seeking God’s direction for our church as we move forward. Among other things we will be discussing core values and priorities for this season in the life of Southwood, ministry structure, and ongoing staffing needs. Thank you for your prayers for us especially that weekend.

Join us in thanking God for the service of Greg and Debbie Carter for many years here at Southwood. Due to their moving away from Huntsville for a season, we have dissolved Greg’s elder relationship with Southwood, but he remains an elder in the PCA and they remain dear to our hearts. So, please pray for the Carters during this transitional season. You can also be praying for three of our ruling elders (Mike Cash, Vinit Mahesh, and Brad Woods) who are beginning scheduled year-long sabbaticals at the end of this month. They will still be involved in shepherding and other aspects of the life of the church, but pray that God would use this time for their refreshment in every way.
