NAME:  Mike Stanfield (Elder Nominee)
AGE:  64
SPOUSE:  Libby
CHILDREN: Joel, Lauren, Robert, James
MEMBERSHIP:  26 years
SERVICE:  Building Committee Chairman, Pastor Search Committees, Sunday School Teacher, Small Group Leader, Ruling Elder

My passion for Southwood is that we be a people living each day in full understanding of God’s grace and love and how these can transform us to be in His image as we were created to be. That this would consume every aspect of our lives, whether in our marriage, family, friends, or community, so we live to spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. A vision for Southwood is that we be a light and a haven for those searching to know the truth and a place of rest and restlessness for those who know and desire to serve Him.

NAME:  Lance Cooper (Elder Nominee)
AGE:  41
SPOUSE:  Whitney
CHILDREN: Walt, Elliot
MEMBERSHIP:  10 years
SERVICE:  Children’s Sunday School Leader, Kids Worship Volunteer, Jobs for Life Teacher, Men’s Small Group Leader

My passion and prayer for Southwood is as John the Baptist said, “He must become more, and we must become less.” That we would all find the transforming power of the Gospel, become new creations, and be transformed into his likeness—even if it’s merely a reflection in a mirror dimly lit. That we would love one another so much for the sake of Christ that it overflows to everyone around us, even those who we sometimes think are very different from us. That we would all become humble vessels of His redemption—as far as the curse is found.

My passion and prayer for Southwood as we move forward is that the children and youth of the church will know the deep love and endless grace of Christ and will be equipped with God’s word.  I am grateful and humbled to be a part of a body of believers who live in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I pray that God will continue to grow us in sharing it with others for His Kingdom.

NAME:  Karl Pittard (Deacon Nominee)
AGE:  39
SPOUSE:  Wendy
CHILDREN:  Sarah, Benjamin
MEMBERSHIP:  8 years
SERVICE:  Children’s Sunday School Leader, Lincoln Village Work Days, Host Team, Small Group Leader, Kids Worship Volunteer

My prayer for Southwood moving forward is that God’s greatness is amplified perfectly, through us, to all who have ears to listen. That we never miss an opportunity to engage with others on how wonderful He is and to rejoice in what He accomplished for us. I pray that He provides us wonderful opportunities outside our usual circles. My passion for Southwood is that through our service to others, we will grow in Him and be enthusiastic to seek Him further in the Word. That the circular nature of this dynamic leaves us endlessly ever-growing in Him and for His glory.
