Dear Mythbusters

Dear Mythbusters

Myth #1:  Was Jean Larroux a candidate when he came to preach Why Bad People Make Good Missionaries on April 18, 2010 at Southwood?

Findings: BUSTED!

Explanation: Jean Larroux was NOT a candidate when he came to preach Why Bad People Make Good Missionaries on April 18, 2010 at Southwood although shortly thereafter, based on popular demand, he became one.  Apparently, there was an overwhelming response to Jean’s presence and message at Southwood,  so great a response from the congregation that the Pastoral Search Committee began to pursue Jean for serious conversations.  After much research, deliberations and prayer, Jean will be unanimously recommended to the congregation for their approval on July 11th, 2010.

Myth #2:  Was Jean Larroux scheduled to preach the Marriage Mini-Series on June 27th, 2010 at Southwood as the Search Committee engaged with Jean?

Findings: CONFIRMED!

Explanation: In the beginning process of considering Southwood as a call, Jean was again pursued by the Pulpit Supply Committee and agreed to preach the June 27th mini-series on The Gospel and Marriage.

Myth #3: Will attending Southwood on June 27th to hear Jean preach two sermons entitled Marriage: Her Wedding…His Funeral and Marriage as Prophecy and Prostitution engage each listener’s heart?

Findings: HIGHLY PROBABLE!

Explanation: Upon examination of the topics, texts and speaker, it is most probable that after hearing Jean preach you will have a new insight into God’s heart for both Marriage and His Church. On June 27th it is most probable that anyone you bring will be drawn back for more!

All Myths Aside:
Through God’s providence, Jean was scheduled to preach this mini-series long before we knew our Pastoral Search committee would recommend him to be called as our new Senior Pastor.

Worship Services at 8:30am and 11:00am:
Jean is preaching two different sermons, one in each worship service. This will be a Sunday to double up - plan to attend both.

Adult Sunday School Hour - 9:45am:
At 9:45am, we will have an informal time with our Pastoral Search Committee to hear their hearts on the process of God bringing Jean Larroux to them and subsequently to us. This will be followed by coffee and donuts in the fellowship halls.

Invite your Friends and Neighbors:
Marriage is one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s loving pursuit of his people.  Every member of our congregation will benefit from Jean’s messages; married or single, young or old.  This will be a wonderful time for us to consider marriage in the light of the Gospel, to learn more about Jean, and to allow Southwood’s family and friends to come together in true fellowship.

See you this Sunday, June 27th,

Ken Leggett
